“Our three day ride was a magical, unforgettable experience.
We began by spending the night at Terra Baya Refugio, dining on the patio as the sun went down over a spacious valley.
Maca and Nico were constantly attentive to our safety, comfort and enjoyment throughout the whole experience. Our horses were docile but responsive and the Chilean saddles comfortable throughout a long day’s ride.
Maca conjured up miracles of catering, producing aperitifs and starters, roast lamb and wine which we ate seated at a table 2,400 metres high in the Andes! Our campsite was on the shore of an idyllic lake and we could choose between a tent or a night under the stars. On our middle day we stretched our legs by hiking up to the watershed overlooking the adjacent valley and were rewarded with a Condor sighting so close we could hear the wind in its wings.
Overall we counted 30 condors then stopped counting! Last day was a long descent with another great picnic lunch and yet more breathtaking scenery.
Basic riding experience would suffice for this tour as the ground is uneven so unsuitable for anything other than a walking pace, but abilty to spend 6 to 7 hours in the saddle is advisable. We recommend spending the night before in Maca and Nico’s novel and attractive home.”
